Ambassador Hayashi’s attendance at a meeting hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG)

On 16 October, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime attended a meeting hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG) in Parliament. The meeting took place on the occasion of Ambassador Hayashi's departure and attended by 14 members of both Houses, including Sir Mark Hendrick MP, Chair of the BJPG, and Viscount Trenchard, Co-Chair of the BJPG.
At the meeting, Ambassador Hayashi remarked that the partnership between the Japan and the UK has developed and reached the highest level ever through close cooperation between the people of the two countries, not only in the areas of security and defence, but also economy and business, academia, education, culture, sport and tourism. He also emphasised that cooperation and dialogue between parliamentarians is indispensable for the further development of this partnership.
In a Q&A session afterwards, Ambassador Hayashi exchanged views on cooperation in energy, the UK's involvement in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and specific means for parliamentary exchanges between Japan and the UK.
