New Gate Installation Ceremony at Hammersmith Park’s Japanese Garden
2024/11/22
On 22 November, a ceremony celebrating the installation of a new gate at Hammersmith Park’s Japanese Garden was held. The event was attended by Mr John Gordon-Smith, Former Chair of the Friends of the Japanese Garden at Hammersmith Park, and other guests connected to the Japanese garden.
The Japanese Garden was originally created in 1910 for the Japanese-British Exhibition. Since the part-restoration in 2010 and the subsequent installation of the main gate and stone lanterns in 2018, it has been utilised as a venue for Japan-UK cultural exchange. Mr Gordon-Smith was awarded the Ambassador’s Commendation in 2023 for his outstanding contribution to maintaining the garden.
