Ambassador Suzuki’s visit to Wales

On 3 December, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki visited Wales where he had a meeting with Huw Irranca-Davies MS, Deputy First Minister of Wales, and Heledd Fychan MS, following which he attended an event celebrating 50 years of Panasonic Manufacturing UK Limited (PMUK) and the unveiling of Panasonic HX in Cardiff. 

Ambassador Suzuki visited the Welsh Parliament in Cardiff together with Keith Dunn, Honorary Consul of Wales and had a meeting with Wales-Japan All Party Group members Huw Irranca-Davies MS, Deputy First Minister of Wales and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, and Heledd Fychan MS, Member of the Welsh Senedd for South Wales Central. They discussed the upcoming event ‘Wales and Japan 2025’, an international exchange event between Wales and Japan to be held next year, and exchanged views on a wide range of topics regarding the further strengthening of ties between Japan and Wales.   

 

            

Ambassador Suzuki attended an event celebrating 50 years of Panasonic Manufacturing UK Limited (PMUK) and the unveiling of Panasonic HX in Cardiff. 

Panasonic HX is an electricity supply and demand system that combines private power generation using pure hydrogen fuel cells and solar cells with storage batteries, and through advanced coordinated control of the three batteries, 100% of the energy consumed in business activities can be supplied by renewable energy. The Cardiff factory in the UK will be the first to conduct demonstration tests outside Japan. 

Ambassador Suzuki gave a congratulatory speech at the ceremony and toured the microwave oven factory, notebook PC factory, and the newly constructed Panasonic HX demonstration facility within PMUK, where he was briefed on Panasonic's efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of its businesses that contribute to decarbonisation.
