On 4 December, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki attended a press conference for the 2025 London Grand Sumo Tournament, held at the Royal Albert Hall.
The London Grand Sumo Tournament will take place from 15 October 2025, for five days at the Royal Albert Hall. This marks the first Grand Sumo tournament in the UK since 1991.
At the press conference, Ambassador Suzuki expressed his delight that sumo, a synthesis of Japanese culture and tradition, will return to the UK after more than three decades and encouraged many people to watch the matches during the tournament. He also expressed his hope that the sumo tournament would inspire a deeper appreciation of the rich traditions and profound history of Japan and further promote cultural exchange between Japan and the UK.
