Ministerial-Level Meeting of Japan-UK Digital Partnership

On 22 January , the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Digital Agency jointly held an online ministerial-level meeting of the Japan-UK Digital Partnership to discuss Japan-UK cooperation in the field of digital technology.
The meeting brought together Mr Adachi Masashi, State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of MIC, Mr Koga Yuichiro, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of METI, and Mr Kishi Nobuchiyo, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation of the Digital Agency, as representatives of Japan, and Ms Margaret Beryl Jones, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, as a representative of the United Kingdom.
At the meeting, the participants looked back on Japan-UK cooperation in the field of digital technology over the past year, including discussions on research and development initiatives in the field of Beyond 5G/6G, enhancing the resilience of semiconductor supply chains, and advancing cooperation in Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT), Digital Marketplace, and Government Cloud, which have progressed under the Japan-UK Digital Partnership., Following this, they compiled a joint statement to outline the future strategic direction under this partnership.
