On 10 April, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki attended a Hanami gathering in Regent’s Park organised by the Sakura Cherry Tree Project. This event was a continuation of last year's cerebration, set against the backdrop of the park, which is one of the first sites where the planting of cherry trees made possible by the project took place in 2019.

Ambassador Suzuki reflected on the origins of the project and expressed his delight at being able to attend the Hanami celebration at the park. He extended his gratitude to all those involved in the initiative, which has provided approximately 8,000 cherry trees across the UK. He also expressed confidence that the new target of planting 10,000 trees across the UK would be achieved.

Sakura Cherry Tree Project
The Sakura Cherry Tree Project was launched in 2019 and has planted approximately 8,000 trees all over the UK to commemorate 150 years of Japan-UK friendship and the continued cooperation between the two nations. As many as 36 cherry trees were planted in Regent’s Park in November 2019.
