Ambassador’s Commendation - The Jockey Club
2025/4/17

On 17 April, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki awarded the Ambassador’s Commendation to The Jockey Club at Newmarket.
As a major player in British horse racing, The Jockey Club has not only laid the foundation for the development of horse racing in the UK but has also established a long-standing cooperative relationship with the Japan Racing Association (JRA), introducing exchange races between Tokyo and Epsom Racecourses. The Jockey Club has helped build bridges between Japan and the UK by coordinating exchange between local communities through horse racing, promoting Japanese food to jockeys, trainers, and other horse racing professionals in the UK, and taking part in the Sakura Cherry Tree Project.
In his speech, Ambassador Suzuki praised The Jockey Club's achievements and pointed out that jockey and racehorse exchange between Japan and the UK has been increasing in recent years and expressed his hope for further engagement between Japan and the UK in the field of horse racing.
On behalf of The Jockey Club, Baroness Dido Harding, Senior Steward of The Jockey Club, responded by welcoming the award, stating that the club would use it as an opportunity to promote further cooperation with Japan and use horseracing as a nexus to bring people together.
The participants then observed a horse race held at Newmarket Racecourse.
