Ambassador Suzuki’s attendance at a reception hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG)

On 14 May, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki attended a reception hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG) in Westminster, highlighting the partnership between Osaka City and Greater Manchester. The event celebrated the upcoming participation of Mayor Andy Burnham at Expo 2025 in Osaka next month.
The reception was attended by a wide range of participants, including Sir Mark Hendrick MP, Chair of the BJPG, Viscount Trenchard, Co-Chair of the BJPG, and Lord Speller, Vice Chair of the BJPG, as well as other cross-party members of both Houses of Parliament. Mayor Burnham, Honorary Consul Jo Ahmed, and related organisations and companies from both Japan and the UK were also present. A video message was shared by Mr Hideyuki Yokoyama, Mayor of Osaka, who signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mayor Burnham in 2023 to deepen cooperation.
