Ambassador's attendance at the FT Nikkei UK Ekiden 2025
2025/6/20

On 20 June, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki attended the second FT Nikkei UK Ekiden, held along the Thames Path between Windsor and Reading.
The UK Ekiden was first held in 2024 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Hakone Ekiden and the State Visit to the UK by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan. It is now positioned as part of the “Musubi” initiative- a new UK-led effort to strengthen people-to-people exchange between Japan and the UK.
Ambassador Suzuki presented copies of The Thames and I: A Memoir of Two Years at Oxford, authored by His Majesty the Emperor, to the winning teams of both the “Racers” division, contested by 16 teams from top UK universities and Ritsumeikan University, and the “Runners” division, made up of 15 corporate-sponsored teams.
