On 23 June, the Embassy of Japan in the UK hosted a pre-departure reception for the 2025 JET Programme participants.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki mentioned that the JET Programme had played a hugely important role in contributing to the friendship between our countries. Furthermore, he offered his encouragement to the gathering of eager young people who were about to leave for Japan and urged each of them to engage deeply with Japan’s society, culture and people in their local community, and to act as bridge between Japan and the UK.

This summer, some 170 JET participants will depart for Japan, where they will work as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in schools or as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) in local governments throughout the country.

JET Programme
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, is aimed at promoting internationalisation in Japan’s local communities by improving foreign language education and fostering international exchange at the community level.
