On 15 July, Deputy Head of Mission Minister Masaki Ikegami attended a reception hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG) at the UK Parliament.
In his speech, Minister Ikegami emphasised that the Japan-UK relationship is closer than ever before, referring to concrete progress in a wide range of fields such as security, business, and culture.
The reception was attended by a wide range of participants, including Sir Mark Hendrick MP, Chair of the BJPG; Viscount Trenchard, Co-Chair of the BJPG; Lord Speller, Vice Chair of the BJPG; David Taylor MP, Honorary Secretary of the BJPG; Gareth Thomas MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at DBT; Sharon Hodgson MP, UK Trade Envoy for Japan; as well as other cross-party members of both Houses of Parliament. Also in attendance were Japanese and British organisations and companies, who share the commitment to promoting the growing Japan-UK partnership.
