On 11 December, Deputy Head of Mission Minister Masaki Ikegami visited the National Museum Cardiff and attended the closing ceremony of "Wales and Japan 2025", between the Welsh Government and Japan that has been held throughout this year. This ceremony was hosted by Ms Rebecca Evans MS, Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Energy and Planning of the Welsh Government.
The Welsh Government has designated this year as "Wales and Japan 2025" to promote new economic and cultural partnerships between Japan and Wales. Throughout this year, a wide range of Japan-Wales exchange events have been held. The closing ceremony took place in presence of Rt Hon Mark Drakeford MS, Cabinet Secretary for Finance (former First Minister) as well as those who are involved in the Japanese-Wales cultural and economic relations representing both the public and private sectors.
Following Cabinet Secretary Evans, Minister Ikegami delivered a speech at the ceremony, reflecting upon the economic and cultural achievements throughout the "Wales and Japan 2025" initiative, and emphasised the importance of carrying the momentum for Japan-Wales relations into next year and beyond.
The ceremony also featured performances by Welsh artists: Gwenno, who visited Japan commemorating her new album release, and Owain, who performed at the Wales Day at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025.
