Ambassador Suzuki’s attendance at a lunch event hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG)

On 27 January, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki attended a lunch event hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG) at the UK Parliament to exchange views on bilateral relations, in particular, in the field of clean energy.
In his speech, Ambassador Suzuki highlighted the importance of Japan and the UK working together through close public–private cooperation to address shared challenges, including decarbonisation and the strengthening of energy security. He also referred to the many Japanese companies operating in the clean energy sector in the UK.
The lunch event was attended by a wide range of participants, including Sir Mark Hendrick, Chair of the BJPG; Viscount Trenchard, Co-Chair of the BJPG; Mark Garnier, Treasurer of the BJPG; David Taylor MP, Vice Chair of the BJPG; Michael Shanks MP, Minister of State (Minister for Energy); Sharon Hodgson MP, UK Trade Envoy for Japan; as well as other cross-party members of both Houses of Parliament. Also in attendance were Japanese and British organisations and companies, who discussed promoting the growing Japan-UK collaboration in the fields of clean energy.
