Minister Ikegami’s attendance at a dinner event hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG)

On 25 February, Deputy Head of Mission Minister Masaki Ikegami attended a dinner event hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG) at the UK Parliament to exchange views on the bilateral relations especially in the field of space cooperation.
In his speech, Minister Ikegami remarked that activities in outer space hold vast opportunities for addressing shared global challenges. He emphasised that space is indispensable for security operations, and that Japan-UK cooperation in the field of space is only made possible because the strong relationship as strategic partners.
The dinner event was attended by a wide range of participants, including Sir Mark Hendrick MP, Chair of the BJPG; David Taylor MP, Treasurer of the BJPG; Mark Garnier MP, Chair of the Space All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPG); Sharon Hodgson MP, UK Trade Envoy for Japan; as well as other cross-party members of both Houses of Parliament. Also in attendance were Japanese and British organisations and companies, who discussed promoting the growing Japan-UK partnership in the field of space.
