Ambassador Suzuki’s attendance at a lunch event hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG)

On 15 April, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki attended a lunch event on the theme of geopolitics hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG) at the UK Parliament.
In his speech, Ambassador Suzuki outlined Japan’s responses to the situations in Iran, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific. He emphasised that, amid growing instability in the international landscape, the security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions are inseparable, and stressed the importance for Japan and the UK of collaborating in areas like defence and economic security.
The lunch event was attended by a wide range of participants, including Viscount Trenchard, Co-Chair of the BJPG; David Taylor MP, Treasurer of the BJPG and UK Trade Envoy for Japan; Monica Harding MP, Vice Chair of the BJPG; Chris McDonald MP, Minister for Industry in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Department for Business and Trade; other cross-party members of both Houses of Parliament, as well as Japanese and British organisations and companies.
