Ambassador Suzuki’s meeting with Mr Arsenio Dominguez, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)

On 16 April, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki had a meeting with Mr Arsenio Dominguez, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Both sides concurred that the settlement of the situation, including realising safe transit of ships in the Strait of Hormuz is of critical importance and that the reported toll system is unacceptable. They further exchanged their views on relevant matters such as the progress of the IMO’s initiatives to ensure safe evacuation of stranded ships and seafarers from the affected area including through the establishment of a safe maritime corridor.
