Ambassador Suzuki's attendance at the opening ceremony of “Urushi Now: Contemporary Japanese Lacquer” at the V&A

On 29 April, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Urushi Now: Contemporary Japanese Lacquer" at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).
The exhibition is held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Toshiba Gallery of Japanese Art, which was established with the sponsorship of Toshiba as the dedicated gallery for Japanese art in the UK. Focusing on the theme of contemporary lacquer art (urushi), the exhibition showcases works of art from more than 40 leading lacquer artists from Japan, including pieces from several Japanese Living National Treasures.
The exhibition is open to the public from 30 April and runs until 30 April 2027.
