Ikebana event featuring Chelsea Flower Show Garden Designer Mr Kazuyuki Ishihara

On 21 May, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki hosted an ikebana demonstration event at the Ambassador’s Residence, featuring Mr Kazuyuki Ishihara, a renowned garden designer from Japan who has regularly participated in the Chelsea Flower Show, at which he has achieved numerous awards.
Mr Ishihara has played a significant role in promoting the beauty of Japanese gardens in the UK, having won 13 Gold Medals at the Chelsea Flower Show and, last year, making history by receiving both the prestigious Chelsea Garden of the Year Award and the People’s Choice Award.
Through Mr Ishihara’s ikebana demonstration, guests deepened their understanding of Japan’s appreciation of nature and aesthetic sensibilities, while also reflecting on the shared love of garden culture between Japan and the UK. The event provided an opportunity to further strengthen cultural exchange among attendees.
In his remarks, Ambassador Suzuki expressed his hope that the friendship between Japan and the UK would continue to deepen through the two countries’ shared appreciation of the beauty of nature.
