West Africa Coastal Growth Corridor Summit 2026

On 23 July, the Embassy of Japan, together with the Labour African Network (LAN), hosted the ‘West Africa Coastal Growth Corridor Summit 2026’.
The event brought together representatives from governments, investors, development finance institutions and the private sector. The first session focused on financing for the West African Coastal Growth Corridor, whilst the second session centred on partnerships between Japan, the UK and Africa aimed at investment, human resource development and sustainable growth.
Speaking at the event, Minister Kajita (Minister of Economic Affairs), outlined Japan’s economic cooperation initiatives in West Africa, highlighted examples of Japanese companies expanding into the region, and emphasised the potential for greater collaboration between Japan, the UK and Africa. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring representatives from the Embassy of Japan, the UK's export credit agency, and an NGO supporting trade promotion in Africa. The program concluded with a networking session.
