On 8 October, Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki awarded the Ambassador’s Commendation to the Royal Ballet School at the Embassy of Japan.

Since its establishment in 1926, the Royal Ballet School has trained young ballet dancers from Japan and around the world and launched them onto the international stage. The school has also made a significant contribution to promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and the UK through ballet, and thereby to international friendship.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Suzuki expressed his deep respect for the school’s longstanding achievements and highlighted its contribution to the success of Japanese ballet dancers around the world, as well as to the development of ballet in Japan.

In response, Mr Patrick Harrison, CEO of the Royal Ballet School, expressed his gratitude to the many people who have supported the school’s activities, including its sponsors and staff, and his appreciation for the honour of receiving the award.
