Support for Teachers in the UK
2018/6/6
The Embassy offers support to teachers in the UK who would like to introduce Japan to their classroom. Through our Club Taishikan workshops, and our artefacts and DVDs for loan, students can gain knowledge about Japan and its culture. Moreover, we can support those studying the Japanese language with supplementary information about life in Japan. For any queries please contact our info section at info@ld.mofa.go.jp or on 020 7465 6540.
Club Taishikan

Club Taishikan is a unique event through which schoolchildren can visit the Embassy for an introduction to Japanese culture. In the two hour visit, they learn about life in Japan through a presentation and participate in two workshops on Japanese culture designed by Embassy staff. It is a rare chance for students to visit the Embassy and meet our staff, and a great way to ignite their enthusiasm and interest in Japan through this full participatory experience.
Artefacts for loan

Whether you are planning a Japan Day at your school or simply a Japanese-themed afternoon for your class, we have a range of different artefacts for loan. Choose from traditional yukata and happi for dressing up or one of our pre-arranged sets to enhance lessons and stimulate students with a hands-on experience of Japanese crafts and traditional toys.
Borrow DVDs
The Embassy has an extensive library of DVDs for loan. If you are looking to make a presentation on life in Japan or on specific areas of Japanese culture, diplomacy, society or politics, please check the online list or contact us for the relevant films.
JICC Library

Our in-house library is open Monday to Friday (excluding Embassy holidays), from 9:30 to 12:45 and 14:00 to 17:30. The library possesses approximately 4000 volumes covering a wide range of general educational, historical and cultural topics relating to Japan, some in English and the others in Japanese, and is an invaluable resource for students researching topics on Japan.
