Update from JICC

2022/2/17
In the latest news from the JICC, we are happy to annouce that our current exhibition "ASH, EMBER, FLAME: a Japanese Kiln in Oxford" is extended until 17 March 2022. However, please note that the exhibition will be closed for the week of 21 to 25 February 2022.

The exhibition showcases items produced during the firings of the Oxford University Kilns' smallest anagama last October and November. A team of potters, community groups and students came together for two special firings. Most had never fired a wood kiln before, let alone an anagama, which are technically challenging to fire.

Find out more about the exhibition here, and you can read an interview with the Director of Oxford University Kilns, Dr Robin Wilson, here. There is also a playlist available on the Embassy's YouTube channel featuring highlights and interviews related to the project.

Farewell from the Japan-UK Season of Culture 2019-2021

From 2019 to 2021, the Japan-UK Season of Culture coordinated with over 100 organisations and individuals on nearly 1300 events related to Japan and Japanese culture in the UK. Here are some highlights of the events that took place, featuring messages from Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime and some of our main partners.

Our thanks to everyone who took part in Season of Culture events over the last three years, and to those who provided footage to this film.
