Update from JICC and Japan-related events

2022/8/22
Our latest exhibition at the Embassy - The Craze for Japan in Victorian and Edwardian Britain - has now opened. Relations between Japan and the UK blossomed in the Victorian and Edwardian eras and the exhibition focuses on how Japanese culture caught the imagination of the British public at this time. Open on weekdays from 10am to 5pm (closed weekends, UK bank holidays, and on 11 August, 23 September and 10 October) the exhibition is free to visit but photo ID is required to gain entry to the Embassy.

On 3 August, the Embassy of Japan and Japan Local Government Centre (CLAIR London) hosted a pre-departure reception for the 2022 JET Programme participants. Read more about the event here, and for details about the JET Programme check here.

Keep up to date with Japan-related events across the country!

As we enter into the latter half of the year don't forget to check in with our Japan-UK Events Calendar to see what's being added for the autumn and winter months! Coming up in September, The Japan Society hosts a talk on Sir Rutherford Alcock and Japan (1859 – 1865). Find out about the man who played an important role in early Japan-UK relations and who also features in our current exhibition at the Embassy!

For more details about the talk check here.
