Personal Statement
The Personal Statement will be used to assess your suitability and motivation for applying for the UK JET Programme. You must ensure that it is a maximum of 600 words, typed on A4 size page, font size 12 and double-spaced (other JET Offices in other countries may have different specifications, if you are applying through the UK Office, please adhere to our specifications). The Personal Statement should be in an essay format, and answer the questions below.You should not write out the individual questions in your essay. Please form the essay using the answers to the questions.
For ALTs
1. Why do you wish to participate on the UK JET Programme and what can you contribute to your host community?2. If you have any experience of living abroad, what challenges did you find yourself facing and how did you overcome them?
OR
If you have not lived abroad before, how have you previously demonstrated adaptability?
3. Regardless of teaching experience, what classroom activities have you previously found engaging and how would you utilise them in an English language lesson to motivate a class of 40 students with varying levels of proficiency?
For CIRs
1. Why do you wish to participate on the UK JET Programme and what can you contribute to your host community?2. If you have any experience of living abroad, what challenges did you find yourself facing and how did you overcome them?
OR
If you have not lived abroad before, how have you previously demonstrated adaptability?
3. Current Affairs
What political or social issues in the UK do you think a Japanese person is most likely to be interested in and why?
For SEAs (if applicable)
