This month, the Embassy bid farewell to Ambassador and Madame Hayashi as they reached the end of their posting to the UK. During his last month, Ambassador hosted and attended several events and meetings, including the UK JET Programme Returnees Reception 2024, a reception to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Japan-UK Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement, and a meeting hosted by the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG). On 22 October, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi hosted a farewell reception at the Embassy. The event was attended by distinguished guests from the fields of government, culture, and media, along with representatives from businesses and organisations operating in the UK. Earlier in the month, Japan Matsuri 2024 was held at Trafalgar Square in London, with more than 30,000 people attending throughout the day. Visitors were entertained by Japanese cultural performances on the main stage, and around the square they could sample local specialities from all over Japan, try Japanese cultural activities, and get tourist information on various Japanese regions. The Embassy's current exhibition, "From Tradition to Modernity: Understanding Nohgaku" continues until December 2024. Open weekdays, 09.30am - 5.30pm, closed weekends and UK Bank Holidays, and 4 November (Japanese Holiday). Please check opening times in advance on our Eventbrite page (advance bookings can be made but walk-ins are also welcome). Please note that admission is free but photo ID is required to enter the Embassy.
