This month, the Embassy welcomed Ambassador and Madame Suzuki to the UK. Ambassador attended a number of events during his first month in his new role, including a reception in London hosted by the First Minister of Wales, The Rt Hon Eluned Morgan, Baroness Morgan of Ely, the Oku Memorial Trophy and England vs Japan rugby matches at Twickenham, and a special talk featuring Mr Joe Hisaishi at the Royal College of Music.

He also attended the Atlantic Future Forum 2024 where he gave an address on Japan’s strategy on security and defence, and had a meeting with with Ms Catherine West MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Asia and the Pacific) at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), to convey his greetings upon assuming his post.

On 22 November, a ceremony celebrating the installation of a new gate at Hammersmith Park’s Japanese Garden was held. Read more here.
