Ambassador Suzuki's latest activities
At the end of April, Ambassador Suzuki visited the exhibition “NIGO: From Japan with Love” at the Design Museum together with the artist NIGO®. This exhibition marks the first overseas showcase dedicated to NIGO®, one of Japan’s leading creators, and traces his creative journey over the past 30 years. He also attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Urushi Now: Contemporary Japanese Lacquer" at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A). Focusing on the theme of contemporary lacquer art (urushi), the exhibition showcases works of art from more than 40 leading lacquer artists from Japan, including pieces from several Japanese Living National Treasures. From 13 to 14 May, Ambassador Suzuki visited the city of Norwich. During his visit, he attended a civic dinner hosted by Norwich City Council and the 15th Anniversary Reception of the Centre for Japanese Studies (CJS) at the University of East Anglia (UEA). He also visited the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures (SISJAC) and the Immersive Visualisation and Simulation Lab and Virtual Production Studio at Norwich University of the Arts (NUA). On 15 May, Ambassador Suzuki and Mr Mitsuyuki Unno, Executive Director of the Nippon Foundation had a meeting with Mr Arsenio Dominguez, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Read more about the meeting here.
