On 25 June, the Embassy hosted a private view of the current Embassy exhibition "Washi: The Artistic Spirit of Japanese Paper". At the private view, the three featured artists, Elaine Cooper, Hiroko Imada, and Kuniko Maeda. spoke about the inspiration behind their work and shared their perspectives on the unique appeal and potential of washi. Following the "Manga Jiman: The Winners' Exhibition" which was held earlier this year, the winning entries from the 2025 Manga Jiman Competition are now available to read online. Visit the official website to read all the stories in full.

Ambassador Suzuki's latest activities

On 2 June, Ambassador Suzuki attended the preview and opening event of 'Kyotographie' held at Japan House London. This photography exhibition is presented by Kyotographie, (the Kyoto International Photography Festival held every spring in Kyoto) and features works by Kikuji Kawada and Ai Iwane, whose works received great acclaim at the festival. On 6 June, Ambassador attended The Derby at Epsom Downs Racecourse. Ambassador Suzuki presented Japanese whisky to the winning jockey, owner and horse trainer of a race sponsored by the Japanese Racing Association (JRA). Later in the month he attended the 26th National Dance Awards, where he also presented awards. Read more here.

Ambassador Suzuki also had several meetings this month, including with the Rt Hon Lord Forsyth of Drumlean, Lord Speaker and with the Rt Hon Heidi Alexander MP, Secretary of State for Transport.
