At the end of last month, UCL-Japan Youth Challenge 2026 Reception was held at the Embassy, where Minister Maeda (Minister for Public Diplomacy) gave opening remarks.

The UCL-Japan Youth Challenge is an annual summer school programme for pre-university students from UK sixth form colleges and Japanese high schools for cultural interaction through various educational activities and events held at UCL (University College London) and the University of Cambridge. On 6 August, Minister Kajita (Minister for Economic Affairs) attended the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of Coleford Factory (Suntory Group), producer of Lucozade and Ribena. Read more here.

Ambassador Suzuki's latest activities

At the end of last month, on 24 July, Ambassador Suzuki visited Hyper Japan 2026, where he toured the exhibition area, including booths showcasing Japanese indie games. Read more here.

On 23 August, Ambassador Suzuki attended a ceremony and memorial service marking the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Hendon Japanese Cemetery. The event was hosted by the Japan Association in the UK and was attended by many of its members, Japanese residents in the UK and local dignitaries including Councillor Gurung of the London Borough of Barnet.
