The end of 2024 is upon us and we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas! The last working day of the Embassy will be Friday 27 December 2024 and will reopen on Monday 6 January 2025. For the full list of Embassy holidays, please check here.
The last day to visit our exhibition "FROM TRADITION TO MODERNITY - Understanding nohgaku from its establishment to contemporary times" is Friday 27 December. Our next exhibition will open sometime in January so please keep an eye on our website for the latest details.
On 1 December, Ambassador Suzuki gave an announcement regarding the extention of Japan's Working Holiday Visa scheme (see the video meesage below). As of the 1st of December 2024, UK nationals will be eligible to participate in the Working Holiday Scheme a maximum of two years, either consecutively or on two separate occasions. Ambassador Suzuki's Activities

Ambassador Suzuki visited Wales at the beginning of the month where he visted the Welsh Parliament followed by an event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Panasonic Manufacturing UK & unveiling of Panasonic HX.
On 4 December, Ambassador Suzuki attended a press conference for the 2025 London Grand Sumo Tournament, held at the Royal Albert Hall. The London Grand Sumo Tournament will take place from 15 October 2025, for five days at the Royal Albert Hall. This marks the first Grand Sumo tournament in the UK since 1991.
On 8 December he attended a talk event by contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, held at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London - an event co-hosted by the V&A and “Japan Cultural Expo 2.0”.
Later in the month, he also attended the 18th Japan-UK Rail Working Group annual meeting, and held a meeting with officers of the British-Japanese Parliamentary Group (BJPG).
